The Cape Fear Council of Governments is the designated Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for North Carolina Planning Region O serving Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, and Pender Counties. The Area Agency on Aging is mandated by the Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended, to plan, develop, implement, and coordinate aging services for Region O.

The AAA assists the counties as they study the needs of older citizens and plan services to meet those needs. We provide the administration and monitoring related to the Home Community Care Block Grant (HCCBG) funding and other direct service funding of community-based services enables older adults to live independently in their own homes as long as possible. Federal, state, and, and local funds make services possible through grant agreements with Boards of County Commissioners and community service providers.

Central Pines Area Agency on Aging is a resource and support hub for local governments, community members, and partners across Chatham, Durham, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Orange, and Wake counties. Our work is rooted in the belief that our region thrives when when come together with a common vision and plan for the future. We advance this goal through the support of regional policy, collaboration, and technical assistance.

Land of Sky Regional Council Area Agency on Aging promotes the highest level of well-being of older adults and their families by partnering with organizations to provide a comprehensive system of opportunities, services, and protective services across Buncombe, Henderson, Madison, and Transylvania Counties.  We provide a standard of excellence in the delivery of federal, state, and regional services for our communities.  Our goal is to help older adults in Western North Carolina lead more independent, vibrant lives.

Mid-Carolina Area Agency on Aging’s (MCAAA) mission is to provide advocacy, planning, and information, promoting healthier lives, caring communities, and a sense of independence in our region’s older adults.

MCAAA serves a three-county region and is designated for planning, administration and advocacy of services for persons aged 60 and older and their spouses who need assistance in order to remain as independent as possible. The MCAAA serves the counties of Cumberland, Harnett & Sampson in North Carolina through the following programs:

• Family Caregiver Services
• Health Promotion and Senior Games
• Home and Community Care Block Grant Services
• Regional Long Term Care Ombudsman Services
• Senior Tar Heel Legislature

Your regional council of government. We serve as a technical, economic, and planning resource to local towns and counties in our western region.

Officially known as the Southwestern North Carolina Planning and Economic Development Commission, we cover the counties of Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Jackson, Macon, and Swain, the 17 municipalities therein, and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

Southwestern North Carolina continues to change rapidly, and as the population increases, so does demand on local government to provide the needed services and infrastructure. The Southwestern Commission remains on the leading edge of this growth, providing expertise in land use planning, economic and workforce development, and elderly services.
